My show attendance has been lacking over the last few years. I guess I’m getting OLD because I’m finding that sometimes I’d rather just hang at home (Dateline tho) vs venture out to the city for a concert (…and do you even KNOW what the parking is like in Wrigleyville?!). Well, that’s not very punk rock of me, so another one of my New Year’s resolutions was to say “yes” to more shows this year. I have an uncharacteristically high amount of posts on the Lawrence Arms, but hell, here’s another one. Saw them on April 12th at Metro with Banner Pilot (god, they were good), and here’s a clip of everyone’s favorite New Year’s Eve tune, “100 Resolutions.”

I legitimately cannot count the times that I’ve seen this band, but man–it never gets old.

The Menzingers at the Metro in Chicago, 11/21/15.

Upcoming shows: March and April.

That wonderful time of year is once again upon us. I’m not speaking of any particular season, month or actual event but rather the arbitrary period of time that every so often presents itself: a time of great shows. Though I know not everyone has the same taste in music as I do, I would be willing to bet that at least one of these will appeal to you. Maybe. A lot of them fall into the punk, pop-punk and alt rock genre, so if that’s not your cup of tea, I offer no apologies. What’s the best part of this list? All of these shows at are at small venues, which means I’ll have plenty of extra money to blow on coffee.

(* denotes the band is/was a member of Red Scare Industries, a local label that I particularly favor. This also means this is guaranteed to be a phenomenal show.)

March 9th: Company of Thieves at Metro.

March 10th: Adam Krier (of AM Taxi) and Kevin Prchal at Beat Kitchen.

March 13th: Anti-Flag & The Flatliners at Reggie’s.

March 16th: The Tossers at Metro.

March 17th: Elway & the Holy Mess at Beat Kitchen. *

March 17th: The Wonder Years at Bottom Lounge (other date sold out, so grab tickets ASAP)

March 24th: The Menzingers at Beat Kitchen. *

March 29th: The Copyrights at Beat Kitchen. *

April 7th: Lucero at Metro.

April 8th: Our Lady Peace at Subterranean. (SOLD OUT)

April 9th: The Revival Tour: Chuck Ragan (of Hot Water Music) & Dan Andriano (of Alkaline Trio & The Emergency Room) at Bottom Lounge.

April 22nd: Anthony Raneri (of Bayside) at Schubas.

I hope to see you at some (but preferably all) of these shows. Also, forgive the ungodly amount of tags that I used here.
